Special attention will be given to pitching as players moving up from Tadpole will be moving from pitching machine to kid pitch. Rules for Mosquito baseball will be also be learned during this time frame. Exhibition games or innings may be scheduled if coaches agree to play each other.

May – June Games begin with an average of each team playing two games a week. First two innings of a game, only first year Mosquito players are allowed to pitch. Innings three and four are open for any kid to pitch (usually it is second year Mosquito kids). Innings are capped at three runs for the first two innings and four runs for innings four and five. The last inning of a game (depending on light – it may be the four or the fifth inning) is designated as an open inning. No cap on the amount of runs a team can score but a team can only go through its entire batting order once or until 3 outs.

Playoffs: The Mosquito playoffs are scheduled to span over two week period starting June 10 through to June 24. All teams make the playoffs where they will be placed in a round robin pool based on league standings. After round robin games, teams will be placed in a playoff bracket to determine final standing for the playoffs and league champion. Special pitch count rules will be enforced throughout playoffs.

Skill Sessions:

Optional for all players interested. Emphasis on advanced skill development in regards to hitting, fielding, catching and pitching. Dates and times to be determined at a later date.

Summer All-Star Teams:

Depending on interest, we would like to field an all star team for first year Mosquito players as well as a team for second year Mosquito players. Advanced first year Mosquito players may be asked to play up on the second year Mosquito team. The All Star teams will play regulation baseball during the month of July. Commitment to these teams will include two practices a week and weekend tournaments in Vernon and surrounding communities. If a team qualifies for Provincials, you can expect to go to the Provincial tournament outside of the Okanagan.
