Message from the President
Vernon & District Baseball Association has had another successful season for 2009.
We have seen tremendous growth in our Association. We’re proud to say we
implemented a Coaches Certification program this past summer. With our
program VDBA now has a number of new
Certified coaches. As this has been my first year as President I am very
proud that the Coaches Certification Program has been accomplished. As with
our coaches we also implemented an Umpires Certification course resulting in
a number of young, ‘up and coming’, Umpires being certified to umpire at the
Mosquito level with experienced Umpires able to move on to umpire at
Provincial levels. Again, another great accomplishment for VDBA. I am very proud to be associated with this Association! Executive member Carl Vardon has worked tirelessly along with City of Vernon employees in improving all our playing fields and
equipment for our aspiring young players of the future.
At this time Vernon & District Baseball Association is looking for a few good volunteers for the following positions: Treasurer – the person taking on this position must have Bookkeeping experience and is best suited to someone who can commit to a part-time position. This will require picking up mail, data entry for receivables and payables and provide monthly financial statements prior to the Executive’s regular meetings. Umpire In Chief – (For the upcoming Season) This is a great position: to watch these Umpires of the future and help them grow. You will be coordinating with the Regional umpire Chief, require an excellent knowledge of B.C. Minor Baseball Rules. This position also entails coordinating all umpires for the league or working with a parent volunteer to organize the schedule. Attending regular monthly Executive meetings. Vernon & District Baseball Association is on the right track, and is clearly becoming a respected and recognized Association not only in the Okanagan but within the Province of B.C. We are an excellent organization to be involved with. If you’re interested in one of the positions please contact either: Theresa Beach - VDBA Secretary or Dennis Holland - Vice President Thank you Watch for online registration with easy and secure credit card payment using Pay Pal's secure credit card processing coming soon.
