9U Division General Rules

9U (Tadpole) baseball is for kids born in either 2015 or 2016. The goal of the 9U division is to teach the kids the fundamentals & rules of baseball in a fun & positive environment. We accomplish this with practices for the first 3 weeks and then moving into practice/games for the remainder of the season to learn as we play. The 9U division is were the kids start to develop their throwing to the glove and catching the thrown ball skills. Hitting off live pitching machine is also introduced. Teamwork and FUN are always important!!

Pitching machines will be used for the entire season. 5 swings from the pitching machine and then hit off the Tee if unsuccessful.

Outs are recorded but everyone hits every inning.

During games, all players will be on the field.

Throughout the season all players will be given the opportunity to play all positions as well as bat in different spots in the batting order.

Each team is likely to have 10-12 players of varying baseball abilities & experience.

2024 Schedule & Format:

Monday & Wednesday Nights from mid-April to mid-June
Players should arrive at the fields at 5:45 PM
Teams Practice from 6:00 to 6:30 PM (Practice Days will practice the whole duration)
Games will run from 6:40 to 7:30 PM

Parental Information:
Parents must remain at the field at all times, no drop-offs
The conduct & well-being of their player are the responsibility of the parent(s) while at the field
Parents are expected to help the coaches. Please don’t wait to be asked to help. Just jump right in and help out.

Player and team equipment are provided for 9U Tadpole. Jerseys, hats, balls, bats and pitching machines. Parents must provide Helmets, gloves, cleats are recommended but not necessary, running shoes are great as well, baseball pants or long pants, and wearing a protective cup is also strongly encouraged. Specially for those who would like to play the catcher position. Check the equipment tab for more information.

The VBA is looking for coaches and parent helpers to keep our season going strong. This level of baseball requires lots of help. Please indicate on the registration form and contact the 9U Director if you are interested. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the sport of baseball and give back to your community.

There will be a summer ball team for the 2024 season for kids that are interested in further development. This season is separate from the spring league and usually runs the month of July. There will be more information sent out by email to all spring players.
